With a massive amount of faith in her clan and the unique bond they share with the fae, she is spiritual and respectful of the more powerful entities that share her territory, and always tries her best to uphold that bond.In fact, she has more than one occasion stated that she sees the fae as better allies to Firthclan than the two other clans. However, she also understands the importance of self-sustainability and always tries her hardest to keep her clan afloat by themselves. She shows great resilience in this field.
Yewstar is a mother of 7 cats and is a very experienced mother. She is apt to see her clan as her children, and will defend these children to the death, if needed. She is of the belief that a mother must be equal parts nurturing and authoritative, in order to ensure their kittens grow up to be good members of the clan. She takes this logic and applies it to her warriors and apprentices, occasionally resulting in tough love.
Outside of her leadership duties, Yewstar enjoys spending time with her immediate family. She is immensely proud of her children, but often finds it hard to articulate that praise, due to not wanting to seem like she is favoring her own children over other warriors. Despite this, she makes her pride known when away from the eyes of the clan.
When dealing with other clans, Yewstar likes to keep reserved. She does not enjoy the thought of either Cinderstar or the Moorclan leader knowing too much about the inner workings of her clan, so at gatherings she keeps to herself, putting up a blank facade for the perceived good of her clan. She comes across as cold and slightly passive aggressive when dealing with cats outside of Firthclan, and tries to reply on them as little as possible.
Yewstar is a stickler for the rules, and due to her living through the flood that the migration of the clan and a prey shortage, she hates waste and excessive indulgence. Yewstar gives herself a specific set of rules for herself to live by, and she is very very hesitant to break these rules. This sort of thing ties in with her religious views. She likes spending time sitting by the waters and connecting her mind with Ciuthach, something that she sees as integral to the mental wellbeing of the entire clan.

Overall History •
Before Birth
Firthclan has always been the most isolated and secretive clan of the three. Perhaps that's why the two other clans didn't realise it when they almost fell apart. 80 moons ago, the Firthclan leader Harestar died of old age. Harestar had been leader of Firthclan for many, many moons, and under their authority, Firthclan had enjoyed a prosperous growth and a period of peace between it, Pineclan, Moorclan, the Fae and the ship-cats. Harestar was well liked, and their death was a massive blow to Firthclan. Since it was in the depths of Leafbare, the council quickly elected a new leader. Their election was controversial, and there was a great amount of infighting between council members on who should be elected. In the end, a young-but-respected warrior known as Aukwhisker was elected leader, and came to represent Firthclan as Aukstar.
Kithood
Yewkit was born five moons after this shift of authority, to the warriors Morelfur and Maerlclaw. Both warriors were well-liked within Firthclan (Morelfur being an ex-loner who'd worked her way up) and were enthusiastic supporters of Aukstar. Her kithood was good, and the nursery was strangely packed that season, so she had lots of playmates to spend time with. Soon, she'd grown big and strong, and it was time for little Yewkit to be made apprentice.
Apprenticeship
Yewkit was made into Yewpaw and apprenticed to Earwigclaw, a senior warrior and good friend of Maerlclaw. Whilst Yewpaw found it hard to get on with her new mentor at first - Earwigclaw was notoriously strict, as well as very pushy - but she learnt quick, and began to make a name for herself both within and outwith the clan. One of the cats who took a partiuclar liking to her was Sedgepaw, another apprentice only one moon younger than Yewpaw. Soon, they became good friends, enjoying hunting with each other and playfighting. Yewpaw, who was a reserved, serious cat, learnt how to worry less from Sedgepaw, and Sedgepaw, who was clumsy and often got too hasty for his own good, learnt patience and steadfast-ness from Yewpaw. The two were amazing together.
Outside of Yewpaw's immediate circle, things weren't so good. Aukstar had only really become less popular, and there was a small subsection of the clan who now believed that his electing was a mistake which the clan would pay for. As more and more unfortunate instances occured, this school of thought seemed more and more likeley. Famine, signs of disaster, strange illnesses, miscarriages - anything could be taken as a sign from Ciuthach that Aukstar was unfit to rule. The atmosphere in Firthclan was tense. and everyone was waiting for what would go wrong next.
Warriorhood
Soon enough, Yewpaw completed her training. She was awarded the name Yewfoot for fer amazing stamina and speed whilst running and swimming. Alongside her was her best friend, Sedgepaw, who was named Sedgescale for his skill at scavenging at the shoreline for bright silver fishes. The pair had felt feelings for each other for a long time now, and now beside each other as young warriors, they took each other as mate.
Both cats fullheartedly believed in their leader, Aukstar, and felt that the cats who mistrusted him were being deliberately difficult. The pair kept to themselves, and soon enough, Yewfoot was pregnant. Her labour was easy and quick, and she gave birth to two kits, which she called Leafkit and Foxkit respectively. Yewfoot slotted easily into the role of a mother and a queen, letting her kind and nurturing side out, which she previously only showed in very rare circumstances.
However, a massive disaster was looming on the horizon.
It'd been a very rainy season. A few days after Yewfoot had given birth, these rains reached critical point. A river uphill of Firthclan's camp burst, sending the waters right into the Firthclan camp. Yewfoot, Sedgescale and their kits were sleeping at the time, and so had no warning. Amidst the rushed evaculation, Yewfoot grabbed Foxkit and Sedgescale grabbed Leafkit, and focused on getting out. During this time they got seperated, and when Yewfoot managed to meet up with the other Firthclan cats on higher ground, she realised that Sedgescale and Leafkit were not with them. And whilst Yewfoot searched the area for any sign of her love and their kitten, neither were ever found. So Yewfoot moved to the new Firthclan camp without them.
To those who doubted Aukstar's validity to lead, this disaster was solid proof that even the fae wanted him out. Surely Ciuthach, who lived in the rivers and the sea, had sent the rains and the waters down on Firthclan as both a warning and a punishment? More and more cats, suffering from lost family members and looking for someone to blame, rallied against Aukstar in seeing him as spiritually unfit to lead. Yewfoot herself found her belief in Aukstar waning.
Foxkit was Yewfoot's only kit now. She babied him tremendously, and he took a strangely long time to wean and grow, so much so that he was held back a few moons for being an apprentice. When Foxkit finally was apprenticed, Yewfoot got to see him less and less. Aukstar himself had taken on Foxpaw as apprentice. She worried about him constantly, and would become very upset upon hearing that he'd been getting up to mischief, which was a common occurence. However, the ease of responsibilites now presented to her allowed for Yewfoot to think.
She'd often go for long walks alone outside of camp to think about her clan and her place within it. She was well-liked within Firthclan, yes, but she knew for a fact that Aukstar disliked her, as he disliked all who questioned his authority. She was worried that he would project that dislike onto her son. Yewfoot was sure that Aukstar had taken on Foxpaw as a gesture of friendship towards her, to get her on his side. It was obvious to all cats that violence was on the horizon, and Aukstar's days were numbered. The rain which had killed Sedgescale had caused many prey to drown, and Firthclan had been in the grips of a famine for much of Foxpaw's kithood. This, like the flood, was attributed as punishment for electing Aukstar. And Aukstar himself had finally grown tired of such accusations, and had started to punish cats who spoke about it in earshot of him. The lack of support from the other two clans was astounding. They were too busy clawing each other to death to notice. Yewfoot had always felt like Moorclan and Pineclan were out-of-touch fools, but now she knew it as fact.
This was around the time that she met Meadowsweet.
He was trespassing on Firthclan territory. Mistaking him for a Moorclan cat, Yewfoot attacked him. They fought, and eventually Meadowsweet managed to escape. This didn't stop him from sneaking back onto Firthclan territory, and he'd often search out Yewfoot to talk to her. Despite their aggressive first meeting, the two cats grew to enjoy each other's presence. Yewfoot found him to be a welcome distraction from the politics back at camp, and Meadowsweet could always be sure that Yewfoot would bring him a mouse to eat. Soon enough. Yewfoot found herself pregnant again. She gave birth, hiding from her clan with Meadowsweet. She decided to let him take away the kits - apparently he knew another loner cat in town who'd given birth only a week before she had.
Meanwhile, within Firthclan itself, tensions had hit a snapping point. After hearing the warrior criticising him, Aukstar snapped and exiled the young warrior to the mountains. Horrified by this decision, the cats who did not believe in Aukstar's authority, and the cats who viewed his recent acts as unfair and detrimental to clan life, stood up against him and stopped listening to his orders in protest. This only resulted in more exiles being sent out from the safety of Firthclan borders. In the cold and harsh weather that seemed to plague those moons, this could be deadly.
It was during these times that Foxpaw was made a warrior. He was given the name Foxwhisker, despite his lack of skill in hunting. It did not go over anyone's heads as to why he was named this.
One day, an Aukstar-loyal patrol brought an intruder - a dirtied white-furred cat- into the camp. To her horror, Yewfoot realised that this cat was in fact her lover Meadowsweet, who she hadn't seen in several moons. Aukstar decided to prove his loyalty to Firthclan and the lands they lived on and kill Meadowsweet. In a pure fit of rage, Yewfoot attacked Aukstar. This emboldened the other cats, and fighting broke out in Firthclan camp. Aukstar was killed (his lack of being healed held as post-mortem belief that he was rightly unfit to lead) and those who were fiercely loyal to him ran. During this battle, Yewfoot's father Maerlclaw was also killed. He'd always stayed loyal to Aukstar.
Becoming Leader
And so, Firthclan slowly started to rebuild. The outcasted cats who did not perish were invited back into the clan, and a new leader was voted for. Yewfoot won the popular vote, and this time, there was no protesting. She was made Yewstar, and went to Ciuthach's pool to get their blessing. She renamed her son Foxclaw. Afterwards, Yewstar met with Meadowsweet for the last time. He had her kits, who were now grown enough to join her. One stayed with their father, and one joined with Yewstar in Firthclan. Mallowpaw grew up to be Mallowflower, a nurse of Firthclan.
Yewstar grew close to Lucernescale, the first cat to be exiled by Aukstar and the last to return to Firthclan. She took Lucernescale as her mate and so far has had two litters with her. Yewstar has managed to keep good relations with the fae, all the while moving away from kinship with the other two clans. In particular, Moorclan. However, Yewstar feels something collecting on the horizon, and she worries for the future of her clan.
