overall personality • Cranepelt always had very low confidence though he learned how to hide it very well at an early age. He would engross himself into whatever he could and allowed it to distract him of his own insecurities, but it would sometimes show in odd ways; like his excessive grooming, his reluctance to get close to others, and how easily agitated he can get. He is also a rather unambitious Warrior, which is mostly because he has no desire to dominate his clanmates or pursue any future that could create chaos within the clan (though his lack of confidence may also be a factor). He has grown incredibly jealous of his brother Bitternnose, and this has caused him to become resentful of his family and discontent with his life. Despite his internal conflict, Cranpelt is a very caring cat. He’s always supportive of his clanmates and willing to help them out any way he can. He is the type of cat to help out before he is even asked, and he will often stay close to those in need so they can at least have a comforting presence or a convenient clanmate to listen and offer assistance. Cranepelt may be too quiet most of the time but he is very devoted to his clan and his role as a warrior. He is a very hard worker and he will frequently wear himself out if he felt he had to, and this is especially true if his clan was suffering. He can be incredibly stubborn and far too proud for his own good... this usually gets him into bad situations that he can’t easily overcome and will end up only strengthen his bitter personality.
short description • a long-haired, semi-cobby, blue ticked tabby with gold eyes and lynx tipped ears.
body type • Semi-cobby
overall looks • Cranepelt is a fairly large tom and due to his lean muscles he doesn’t fill into his size very well; if it wasn’t for his thick pelt, his slim figure would almost be concerning. He is quite the attractive feline, though he isn’t aware of this. His dense blue-grey coat is incredibly soft, which is partially thanks to his constant grooming (as he is a bit self-conscious of his shedding). His fur grows longer around his neck, chest, underbelly and tail, which provides him with excellent protection. Where his fur grows longer is also where is grows lighter in colour, where as his powerful legs are a much darker grey. His ticked tabby markings, along with subtle patches of pale fur, gives his pelt a “silvery” look. His dark markings are hardly noticeable, and are only really visible on his legs, neck and the top of his head. The top of his head has dark fur that reaches up onto his triangular ears, which have tufts of fur at the tips, before coming down his forehead to stop in an “M” just on his brow. His square powerful muzzle is white in colour, with a dark pink nose and many white whiskers on either side. His piercing golden eyes are perceptive yet hard to read and partially rimmed with white fur.

Heritage - Walnutwhisker and Sleetfoot were fast friends during their apprenticeship, despite the slight age gap of five moons, and their bond seemed to only strengthen as they became warriors. Since both cats were painfully shy, it took quite a bit of time before they could acknowledge the mutual love they shared for each other but after a while they were finally able to become mates.
Kittenhood - Cranekit was born into a litter of four kits, but his brother Dovekit died of sickness just before they had reached their second moon. He wasn’t able to grieve long for his brother because it was around this time that the clan had also waged war against Moorclan due to the tensions brought on by the spy who had infiltrated their clan and tried to seduce their monarch. Of course, Cranekit wasn't aware of the politics and the events that were going on around him... but the clan's unrest and riled emotions still effected him, and he had spent many restless nights trying to wrap his young mind around the chaos that was going on around him. As he grew older he pushed the more unsettling emotions aside and focused on having fun. He didn't even care if he ended up breaking any rules, he simply sought an escape. He spent a lot of time getting into mischief with Larkkit, then after a while he started to notice that their mother was praising everything that Bitternkit did... this caught his attention and he invited his brother to join him and Larkkit on their antics and adventures. These were some of the greatest memories of his life and he would always treasure them, even if they had delayed his apprentice ceremony.
Apprenticeship - Cranepaw was given a tough and very strict warrior as his mentor: Redleaf, who was known as Redstorm at the time. Redstorm worked him tirelessly, waking him early and drilling him with chores and exercises until dusk. Cranepaw had no time to get into any mischief and also no time to spend with his siblings, but he would always keep an eye on them regardless. He was so proud of his family but at the same time he felt a dark emotion stir inside him; jealousy. He had felt it when they were kits and had ignored it at the time, but it was becoming more and more difficult to push aside. He saw Bitternpaw excel in his training and tried his best to match his brother yet always fell short... the worst thing about it was how his brother seemed to rub it in; always offering help, when he himself seemed capable of so much more. He watched as his family seemed to soar ahead of him, leaving him behind... and he started to resent them for it. It wasn't long until Cranepaw started to distance himself, focusing all of his attention into his training. Redstorm saw the talents he had and neutered them, but Cranepaw seemed oblivious of them. He wasn't the strongest or fiercest fighter, but he was gifted with learning and executing battle moves. He wasn't the fastest runner but he was sure footed and despite his growing size he could turn on a leaf. He was an excellent climber but his fear of heights made his mentor decide against perfecting this skill. He was an average hunter and his silent dedication to his clan ensured that he always came back with prey. Since he was struggling with his emotions he felt uncomfortable spending time with other cats, especially when their emotions effected his own, for he always seemed to be able to feel what they felt and this always bothered him. When his warrior ceremony neared, he was asked about his future name but he was indifferent... what did it matter anyway? Cranepaw had impressed in his combat trial, showcasing his agility and talent in battle moves... but when it came for his hunting trial, his mentor had requested he bring back a bat. It was as if his mentor wanted him to fail! Restorm explained to him that a warrior must be able to overcome his shortcomings in order to better serve his clan, and if Cranepaw couldn’t do that then he simply wasn’t ready to be made a warrior. The determined tom had been gone for nearly two days. During that time he had given prey to other warriors and apprentices to bring to camp, for he felt he would fail the clan if he deliberately turned his back on prey and he reasoned that he hadn’t been told he couldn’t hunt anything else. Despite the prey he caught, he refused to eat or return without his bat. Hunger had sharpened his skill and dulled his fears and doubt until he succeeded and walked into camp later in the second day of his trial. He had to take a day to recover, but he had proven that his battle skills and sheer willpower made him worthy of his warrior name.
Warrior Moons - Cranepelt stopped paying attention to his family and even decided not to take notice of any other clanmate; this meant no friends and certainly no mate. He listened quietly to others and would help when he could but he wasn't one to actively seek out company or companions, though he would often spend his time near other cats who were quiet and content with the presence of another clanmate and nothing more then that. His parents had another kit, Firkit (now Firstorm), but he found it difficult to bond with her when Bitternnose kept getting in the way, and eventually he stopped trying to get close to his only sister; he couldn’t bear the thought of being second rate in her eyes, too. When Larkwhisker found a mate and had kits, Cranepelt felt too ashamed and awkward to approach them; he had ignored them for so long... how could he face them now? As seasons went by he watched as his clanmates grew and prospered, while he seemed to go by unnoticed; he thought he was fine with this but the emptiness inside him only deepened. His role as a warrior felt hollow as well, since he was never given the chance to mentor an apprentice. His former mentor often spent time with him, but they had always had a very strained relationship so they would bicker constantly. Cranepelt watched as Redstorm became Redleaf, and though he was perplexed he still silently supported him. Then his mentor had vanished without a trace... leaving a strange painful void within him. To this day he is still searching for his lost mentor. Things only got worse when his mother passed away. The blue warrior refused to be consoled by anyone and spent the vigil alone, gazing at Sleetfoot’s body with sorrowful regretful eyes; he never did reconnect with her... but this didn’t make him wish to get closer with his family. In fact he withdrew further from his family, and would often show mild contempt for Bitternnose who often seemed to try to reconnect with him.
